HOW IS THE INTERNET CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK?

I was intrigued by a tweet Mr. Fisch sent out looking at the Edge's annual question of the year and wondering what my own students' responses to this question might be:

HOW IS THE INTERNET CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK?

31 comments:

  1. A way the Internet has changed, by Mr. Fisch is that now anything is available at the tip of your fingers. Before there was no such thing as the internet, but now it has become a valuable resource that now we are so dependent of it. The internet is evolving really fast and now it is a major resource in a person's life. This relates to people because now we can blog, do research, or even IM eachother on the interenet at the click of a button. Internet makes life easier to get an education, so students do not have to go look for a certain book.Instead search engines like google provide information needed for a student. Now the world is becoming so hi-tech that in some countries Internet can be a necessity to have because of how useful it can be. Overall, the Internet is evolving at a very fast rate.

  2. The internet is a powerful tool to explain thought, get news of other things, and communicate. Many have read things that may have changed their mind on a subject. I know I have. The way the internet can change they way you feel about one thing is by the fact that there are so many other things out there as it is. You may read one thing an then read another that seems like it may have more truth in it. You don't to much research on the source it came from and there ya go, you changed your mind that easily.

  3. The internet is changing the way I think because it narrows down a search to a very specific topic. Instead of reading through tons of books and material to find what I'm looking for, I can just hop on the internet and find exactly what I'm looking for. It is easier and much less time consuming. I think it is easier way to find other things that are related to your topic on the internet through links. This helps because it gives you other ideas about your topic that you may not have thought of. However, when researching on the internet you need to be careful that what you think is a good resource actually is. The internet gives me access to things that are happening around the world 24/7.

  4. The internet changes the way people think about a certain topic beacause they may read a web page that is someone's opinion rather than the truth so then those people start going by the web page instead of their own opinion. And I think that is bad because if someone has an opinion about something then they are less likeley to keep listening in the future and to stand in what the believe.

  5. The internet has changed the way people think, cause everyone who has encountered the internet seem to realize that the internet is an amazing resource. It tells you any thing you want to know or do; such as Google, with Google you can type in what ever you want and it always comes up with something. Next the internet has changed the way i think about life, it is amazing to know that before the internet was invented everyone did not know what they were missing out on. Then after the internet was invented everyone anything available at the tip of their fingers

  6. The internet is changing many things. It has had an effect on almost everything all around us. Some of the things that the internet has changed are things like school. You can now access online books, grades, homework assignments, test and quiz dates, ect… Also it has advanced communication. You can now communicate by using things like instant messaging, email, and even text messaging using the computer. The computer has changed many things all around us for the better and for the worse but it has changed things mostly for the better.

  7. The internet is changing how I work and play. Most things that I use in my everyday life involve the internet. One of the things that the internet had mad me think differently is how I do school work. Before the internet I Couldn't do alot of school work at once. Now I can do tests/quizes, homework, grades and many more things that thought I could never do on a computer. You can play games and do tons of fun enertaining things on the internet. Lastly you can communicate with people around the world that makes talking with people so much easier. Overal the internet has changeed the way I think about communication, work and play.

  8. There was a question posed by Edge Magazine that said “How is the Internet changing the way you think?” The internet is an incredibly powerful tool and an amazing resource. Almost anything can be brought to you with just a push of a button. You can research a topic, play games, listen to music, or do anything you want on the Internet. Teachers and parents speak of a time when there were these things called “books” which is what they grew up with, and they would have to search through these ancient devises to find what they wanted. Now, we have Google. The Internet truly has made almost anything possible, and can make anything easy.

  9. "How is the Internet changing the way you think?" by Edge. The Internet is changing the way you think by feeding you with new knowledge. Everyday people put new things on the internet such as news and other media. The internet is changing the way schools think because the are converting to computers instead of text books and are using the internet instead of the libray. Kids are doing all of there class work on the internet and the computer. We use the internet to send emails instead of letters so some people just send an email and don't even think about letters. The internet is changing the way i think by communicating through it instead of the phone or letters and I do my school work on the internet instead of doing it the old fashioned way. The internet has changed the way most everyone thinks because it has replace old traditional ways of doing things.

The internet is a common regular part of our daily life and it has affected everyone and it influences how we think.it influences the way we think because the common teen will belive anything they see on the internet.but it can help us expand our minds and become open to new ideas and new ways of thinking.clearly the internet has affected the way we think.

  11. The internet has changed my life by allowing me to get to anything I need almost instantly. It has allowed me to access my text books online so I don’t need to bring them home. It also allows me to find my home work online in case I forget my planner. The internet allows me to communicate with others online without a hassle. The internet has changed my life so greatly, it would be hard to imagine a life without the internet.

  12. The internet can do many things for all of us including me, like if i need to get help on a paper for a class or look for research on that papaer i can do it all in one place. WE can also be doing that paper or other homework on the internet while talking to friends so i think that that helps break it up and not be totally isolated while working. This has changed my thinking a lot because now if i do not know something of i need help on something i can just go to the internet instead of getting help somewhere else and just look it up. All of the information is at our finger tips so it can change how you think about getting information on something. WE would have a lot harder time in life if we did not have the internet and all of this information a click away.

  13. What matters today, is the annual question posted by Edge magazine. The question presented to the world for 2010 is, how is the internet changing the way we think? I believe that the internet has caused us to become more connected and made life easier in general. Instead of having to figure out a problem ourselves, we are now able to just Google it. This gives us a quick easy answer to whatever question we ponder. The internet has also made the world a very small place. Current events are now available instantaneously, instead of having to wait until the nightly news or the news paper. This mattes to school because, as commonly seen in commercials, classes can now talk and share ideas with class in other countries. The new thinking affects me in my everyday life. I do not go a day without Googling something or checking my e-mail. So my answer to the question is, the internet is changing the way we think in a positive way.

  14. The Internet is one of the most power full things on the face of the planet and it changed how we learn information and how we communicate with friends. The facts that the Internet brings are interesting information that we will never know because we do not intervene with it in normal life; this makes me so much smarter than if i did not have Internet. Also with the Internet it allows us to talk to friends when they do not have phones, I like that because a lot of the time for me my friends are on the computer more than they're by their phones so it helps me out a lot. The Internet changed these two things the most for me because that is mostly why i use the Internet.

  15. The internet has changed the way people think because now they have information at their fingertips. The only way of finding info on things before internet was newspapers and maybe some tv. But now that the internet is here, people have got smarter, people are communicating more. Everything about the internet has changed thinking. Eventhough I have lived with it most of my life, it keeps getting better.

  16. The Internet has made the way I think easier and more reliable. Websites like Diigo help put all my thoughts in one place and organize them, something I have trouble with. Although not all websites are perfect, there are many with very trustworthy information that is extremely useful. Instead of having to go to the library or something of that sort, I can just find the book or text needed online. I can also talk to others and see what they think about a topic and feed of their ideas. The Internet has made thinking faster, more to the point, and correct, mostly.

  17. The internet has made me think that some things are easier in life now because now we can just pull google and look things up instead of pulling out an encyclopedia and flipping through that. Another way the internet changed my thinking is that you can find almost any opinion about anything on the internet and you can talk to people in other countries digitally, meaning no letters. The internet has made me think that solving problems and asking questions is easier and harder.

  19. The internet is changing how people do everything such as research, obtaining news, watching movies, and much more. The internet practically does everything you would need from other places like libraries for example. I've been changing the way I think because of the World Wide Web. All my research can be done online all in one location. Internet allows people to do virtually anything. I could read the latest news for sports, politics, and what's happening in the world today, I don't have to find a newspaper to get all the news. The internet allows me to read what's going on in other states or even other countries on different continents all over the world. The internet has made problem solving easier and less time consuming for myself.

  20. Internet is changing the way we think because it influences society, the internet is taking over resources, and it is supposed to solve all problems. First, the internet influences society with all the information that draws the user back to use over and over again. Next, almost all of the resources someone could possibly need are now all accessible online for use. Finally, the internet is set up to solve other people issues like the sites that are supposed to help find a soul mate for those who haven’t found love through traditional means. Clearly, the internet has changed the ways we think because it has taken control of most of human race.

  21. In Mr. Fisch’s tweet on The Edge the in internet is changing the way I think because I use it everyday. The internet is becoming more and more popular; more people have an E mail, Facebook, Twitter, Wiki, blogger account, and many more. People are also using the internet for education because there are many great sites such as Diggo, Wikipedia, Moodle, and more. The internet changes the way I think because by using social networking sites such as twitter I can see the different views of the topic. The internet also changes the way I think because it is more convenient than going to the library and checking out a book. In conclusion the internet doesn’t just change the way I think, but the way the world thinks.

  22. The internet is changing my thinking in several ways. With the internet, I can look over something more than once, unlike TV or radio where information can become lost or forgotten. I can connect to almost any information in the world, like my favorite radio show or my favorite comic and look over it again. I can look at the latest news anytime I want to, instead of flipping through a paper to find it. I can contact any of my friends or family that are also on the internet at any point in time. The internet has changed my thinking by giving me a whole new perspective on how to find information and contact people.

  23. The Internet is changing my accessibility to millions of things, like when Mr. Fisch was talking to the class about Diigo it made me think how technology has changed so much in the past years. With Diigo we can now save all of our research on a profile thats on the internet so anyone can access there notes, research, etc. wherever they are, unless they don't have access to the Internet. I find Diingo very useful because i always had a problem with having all my stuff saved on my documents on one computer. But now i can put it in a folder on an Internet site so i can access it wherever.

  24. The internet is changing the way to think because of all the resources you have available and where you get your information these days. In the school, the U.S., even in the world kids are starting to use computers around the world to get a better education. This is what matters to not only us but to the world because as the internet adapts we adapt and use all the new information/resources to our advantage. The internet is changing the way to think by challenging our brains and allowing human being to communicate to eachother faster than before. All learning is, is the way to communicate with eachother.

  25. The internet has changed the way I do most things. If I want to hang out with a friend I go on Gmail, or Facebook. When I do my homework, I am listening to Pandora. I have alot of questions and now in five minutes I can have an answer. Because of this our generation is growing up faster, and in many ways getting smarter. In previous generations they had to go to a library and sift through the card catalogues, we just need to go to Google. The internet is changing the way we think, and is making us more commited to getting smarter.

  26. Technology has a very large impact on the way people learn and think. Now days if you want to learn how to train your dog you can watch a video or Google thousands of options. There are online teachers and tutors to that anyone could use to better learn a subject. If you need to catch up on your latest political news there’s a website that has live video of your interests. Television stations, such as The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, and PBS Kids are all educational for any age group. Technology is a great way to teach and learn.

  27. The internet has changed the way i think by making it a little easier and sometimes more fun. There are many things on the internet that have helped me become a better student. There are also things out there that help you research no matter where you are such as Diigo(http://www.diigo.com/tools). I have been using this site for a essay in my english class and it is very helpful to access to all my research where ever i am. Altough there are many things that help you on the internet there are also some very dangerous things. This has helped me learn that i can not trust anything and everything out ther on the internet. This is how the internet has helped me learn not only education but life as well.

  28. As iv gotten older the Internet has changed the way I think by making it easier to research any kind of information. In the beginning, the Internet was a luxury for most housholds. The Internet has gone from a simple search tool to a daily necessity used in schools, businesses, and homes. One feature that has helped the Internet get to this point is its ability to give researchers a broad range of information, as well as its ability to narrow down search categories. Today, I can go to the Internet and search for anything at the click of a mouse. This removes the need for books and hard copies. The speed of wich you can access information has also improved. One down side to the Internet is that, although there are many options for sites not all of them are valid. One thing is for sure, the Internet is changing the way I think by having all the world's information at my finger tips.

  29. The internet has changed the way I think because it is a tool that puts the worlds answers on the tips of my fingers. It gives you the power to type in a subject and get thousands of answers to the same question. Any time someone has a question and is not sure now they can turn to the internet and get an answer in seconds. There is basically nothing you cannot do on the internet, you can get directions, watch videos, and play games. The internet has changed the way I do my homework and the time I end up spending on it. We now have the tools to get books online that we would have had to go check out from a library. The internet is a tool that is getting more and more powerful everyday and is expanding every second. There are over 182 million sites on the internet that are changing people’s lives each day.

  30. The internet is changing my life in many ways, I can synchronize almost everything through my Google account, this is important because my life is much quicker and more to the point now. Instead of writing everything down on paper and keeping those papers together I can now use my Google account to keep track of emails (which are replacing paper mail), have my calender organized, and search endless sources for the information I am looking for. The internet has also revolutionized my life by letting me learn thousands of new things that before I would have no way to learn except by talking to an expert. Now I have millions of experts in all sorts of fields at my disposal ready to give their wisdom away. Obviously the internet is changing my life.
