Friday Fun Activity Reaction

Please think about the experience we had in class on Friday and post your reaction to the following questions:

What did you notice about your interaction with the girls?

What did you notice about the class behaviors? Was there any stereotyping? Any gender differences?

  1. I thought I was comfort able with the girls. I had fun. It was interesting to see how some of the girls kind of shied away when I approached them. I also noticed that after we were done, unless you knew one of the girls or they knew you, they did not want to talk to you. Either that or they were to shy, because I tried to start conversations but was refused the privilege.

  6. I was pretty comfortable going around and asking the girls the questions and they seemed pretty comfortable about it towards the end but they were shy at first and made us come to them and they weren't asking the guys questions. After the assignment everyone started talking and i think at that point the girls and the guys were comfortable with each other, so im looking forward to doing this again.

  8. I found that the girls didn't seem to like the activity, were very shy for the most part and pretty much only hung out with the other girls they already knew. Like the rest of the class said most of the girls didn't get up they made us come to them. Also I don't think that many people actually meet anyone from the other class since everyone was more just rushing around trying to find someone who could sign off on one of the boxes for the assignment.

  9. The girls seemed more shy and quiet. they were all in there seats. When we first started the assignment they were shy but at the end they came out of there shell. You could tell that everybody had there own groups.

  10. I thought it was a really fun activity, the girls seemed shy and it seemed like the guys were the only ones walking around and asking questions. But towards the end the girls started to talk to the guys more.

  11. It seemed like the girls were very shy because when we started the activity none of the girls got out of their seats. We had to go to them. Towards the end of the activity some of the girls came out and started to interact with some of they boys.

The girls really didn't say anything, they were all very quiet and they all stayed with their friends. For the boys our behavior was very good because we were all over the place asking our questions to the girls so we could get our paper done.

I didn't see any stereotyping going on because everyone was spread out through the classroom. You could tell that there was a lot of gender differences because after we all were done the girls went into a part of the classroom and started to talk and all of the boys went and stood next to the door and started to talk. It was very fun I can't wait until next Friday.

  12. The interaction with the girls was fun but some of the girls were too shy so we were the ones who had to go up to them and talk, but as time passed they were getting more comfortable around us and socializing a bit more with us and interacting.

I don’t think there was much stereotyping because we weren’t as interested to find a person with some of those qualities; we were more interested in talking to some of the really attractive girls. There were some gender differences between us because we had different ideas and there were groups of girls talking to each other and groups of boys talking to each other so it was kind of separated. Overall it was a fun activity and I am looking forward to do this activity again.

  13. I found that the girls were really shy when we walked in and just started the activity but once were had been there for a little while they started to be more and more comfortable. Unless you knew a couple of the girls then it wasn’t weird or anything to begin with, it was just another time you saw them. Right when we walked in though we had to go around and start conversations and ask the questions on the sheet. But it was fun once we got started into the sheet and interacted comfortably with the girls.

  14. When i went in the classroom i wasn't expecting what was going to happen. I thought that the girls were going to ask all the guys questions, but i was wrong. I felt as if the girls were shy and they didn't really want to do anything in the beggining. As time went on we started to get comfortable and everyone started talking and i found that i enjoyed it. So at the end of the day i am glad we did this and am looking forward till the next time.

  15. When the boys walked into the class the girls didn't show any initiative to ask questions, they seemed shy but after a couple minutes it was easier to talk to them and ask questions. I thought this was a fun activity and would like to do more like it.

  16. When I was working with the girls I made a few observations. First, I noticed that in the beginning most people were shy to talk to people they didn’t know, however as the period progressed everyone began to come out of their shells and started talking to new people. I also noticed some people tended to be more out-going than others, and it was not just the girls or the boys, it was both. As far as stereotypes I didn’t notice anything.

  17. My thoughts about fridays class, when the guys went into the girls classroom, was that the girls stayed melow while the guys where routy. I don't think the girls really wanted to be at school, or at least in that class, at that time. The girls acted very shy throughout the whole class period, in my opinion. While I was there I didn't notice any stereotyping but I did notice the guys were excited to see the girls in their classroom. Overall, it was a fun activity and a good way to meet new people.

  21. I think that fridays activity was very fun but i thought the girls acted very shy. one main thing that happened is that the girls made us go to them instead of them coming to us. i think that girls are demanding thats why they wanted us to go to them. also i thought at the beginning the girls on one side and guys on the other. because it was kind of awkward. but over all the friday activity was really fun.

  22. I thought the girls were being rude and stayed in their seats the whole time until the end when some of them got up and started talking but only at the end. I still had a good time and am looking forward to next week.

  25. The activity today, done with the all girls calss, seemed to work out pretty well. The girls seemed a little shy, like David said, but I think the guys were really trying to get the work done. Haha! That was a big thing of their question asking.

The girls’ class seemed a little more quiet. They never got out of their desks. At least most didn't. However, the guys were everywhere around the classroom. Stereotyping? No I wouldn't say so. At least not that I noticed, personally. Haha I think that there were a lot of gender differences. Only people I found who had a British accent were Smith, and Zephen. But, I think everyone went to Rae for the online gaming question. Overall, I liked the activity, I think it mainly just took some getting used to. But in the end it all worked out well.

  26. I think that this experience was very good. It was nice to be able to interact with girls and not have it be all guys. I think that the girls were alot more shy then i thought they would be. It seemed that we had to do all the work to interact with the girls. But this was very good and very fun.

  27. The Interaction with the girls class last Friday was great. The girls were shy at first and were really focused on getting the work done. After all the work was done the girls came alive. Overall I think this activity was great in getting to know the girls class better.

  28. The majority of the girls expected us to come to them, and would expect us to just leave after we finished. They also would say as little as possible.

  29. When the all boys class first met with the all girls class there were a few things that happened. When we first walked in, everyone didn’t move until one person started the task by asking the questions ont the paper. I noticed that the girls didn’t move and they waited for us to come to them. The stereotype that I saw was that girls are shy and guys are controlling and take charge. And near the end, the classes split up into groups based on their friends.
